About Phathom
Phathom (originally Section 8) was a rock band that made waves in the music industry with their high-energy live performances, and catchy hooks.
The band’s first EP, “Destroy the World Before Bedtime,” launched them into the local scene and sold over 1000 copies on its own, a major feat for an independent band at the time. The album also ignited a fire in the Los Angeles local scene and allowed Phathom to attract a more loyal following.
With the band’s growing popularity, they embarked on their second EP, “The Halo Effect,” which was released on Halloween night in 2003. This album was a success and sold over 3,500 copies, providing the fuel Phathom needed to bring their music to the masses.
The band spent almost two years recording their first self-titled album, selling over 10,000 copies strictly through touring. With their fan base expanding, Phathom started a heavy five year touring campaign, which included selling out shows, playing over 70 high schools across five states, and performing with popular acts like Bane, Strung Out, Unwritten Law, A Wilhelm Scream, No Use for a Name, Avenged Sevenfold, and more.
Phathom continued their success by participating in the Vans Warped Tour from 2006 to 2008, which exposed them to a wider audience. They were also featured on Fuse TV as well as topping the charts on Myspace.com and Purevolume.com. The band’s independent success paved the way for them to release three full-length albums, including their self-titled debut album in 2006, Zombie Love in 2007, and The New Piracy in 2011, as well as three EPs.
The members eventually decided to pursue other endeavors and parted ways, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to their craft.
